SWT Design did a wonderful job at designing a play experience for all ages and abilities. The end result is both creative and engaging, allowing children of all abilities to be together in play. The project is a great success for St. Louis Children’s Hospital, helping us to fulfill our mission “to do what’s right for kids” by creating safe play spaces for fun and activity. It is a great joy to see children with a wide range of abilities playing and laughing together. Thank you SWT for a terrific job!

The Inclusive Playground ‘Together We Play’ project at Tilles Park has been a public/private collaboration of efforts including St. Louis County Parks Department, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and several interested community supporters. SWT Design provided team leadership in the development of goals and desires of both the municipality and the community.  Accessibility was the primary focus while designing this inclusive park. The play structures were designed with a ramping system from one tier to the next, allowing all visitors to experience the same spatial relationships. A sand play area provides table-like opportunities at various heights to accommodate each individual. The large pavilion located in the center of the park provides a covered shelter with amenities including restrooms while a sound play area is nestled behind the pavilion allowing for audio and rhythmic stimulation.  All of these park features come together around a central spray ground/plaza offering an oasis from the summer heat. The plaza is encircled by seatwalls engraved with nursery rhymes and scattered with bronze critters to heighten the sense of discovery.
