Located in the rolling hills overlooking the Red River in northwest Louisiana, Eightfold Farms was established in 2015 with a dream rooted in the tenets of the Eightfold Path of Buddhism. A place for togethernessmindfulness, access to nature, and the therapeutic benefits of working with horses, the farm is an example of what is possible with a visionary client and the perfect piece of land.

SWT Design is working in collaboration with equestrian designers, Blackburn Architects, to develop and implement a master plan that will transform a more than 200-acre working ranch into a major equestrian facility for youth and therapeutic programming, equestrian competitions, and large events. At the same time, the property is being developed for the comfort and enjoyment of the farm’s staff and its co-owners, who both plan to have their primary residences on site.  These sometimes opposing needs offer the opportunity to create a very dynamic place for everyone who visits the site.

SWT is developing designs for pedestrian/equestrian/vehicular circulationsiting of buildings, gardens, public and private amenity spaces, stormwater management, accessibility, material selection, protection of vulnerable ecosystems, and habitat creation. Once completed, Eightfold Farms will be a regional amenity rooted in sustainability, healing, and mindfulness, that embraces the spirit of the owner, staff, and animals
