Now a landmark in the City of Cape Girardeau, “Nature’s Landing” was originally identified as an enhancement opportunity within the hospital campus landscape. Its high visibility, along a major arterial road, provided a stage to design a sculpture garden that would engage the community and create a gateway for the hospital campus, as well as a portal into Cape Girardeau’s reemerging downtown.

Descending from the hospital’s healing garden, a flock 0f geese create a natural “V” formation stretches across the 2-acre site and lands in the large pond in an adjacent park across the highway. Built into the landscape, the installation seems to emerge from a native garden, physically connecting the hospital campus to the park.

"Art in the landscape can be bold – a grand gesture that elicits strong emotion and dramatic change. It can also be subtle. ‘Nature’s Landing’ is a delicate gesture that has personified the identity of an organization, a city and a region."
