Just two weeks ago, park and recreation professionals from across the country gathered at the 2017 National Recreation and Parks Association’s annual conference.

As part of the conference, key communities throughout the United States were recognized for their commitment to long-range planning, resource management, and innovative approaches to delivering the highest level of park and recreation services with fiscally-sound business practices.

One of the day’s biggest winners was the Johnson County Park & Recreation District (JCPRD) in Shawnee Mission, KS who took home the Gold Medal in the Class I Category (population of more than 400,000).

In 2015, SWT Design led the team that worked with district staff and the Johnson County Community to develop the 2015 Legacy Plan, a comprehensive strategic plan that embraced the traditions of the district and harnessed its capabilities to focus the organization’s future growth on work that is responsive to an evolving Johnson County.

Congratulations to our client on this well-deserved award and incredible milestone! For an in-depth look at the 2015 Legacy Plan, you can read a copy of the plan here on our website.
