Perched high on hillsides overlooking Table Rock Lake, Big Cedar Wilderness Club is an Ozark paradise. This 40-acre resort near Branson, Missouri is great for families. In 2007 the resort was expanding from the original, historic Big Cedar Lodge, and SWT was hired to guide the resort’s growth.
Goals of the master plan included preserving the quality of the historic lodge, creating identity, reducing vehicular impact, planning for growth, and identifying future amenities. The view of Table Rock Lake is an important asset to the resort, so the master planning process included a visual and physical impact analysis to guide the siting of lodges and cabins.
The result was a phased development plan for Big Cedar Wilderness Club. This master plan included a trail system, nature center, themed playground, and landscape improvements. It also resulted in a new building type, the cluster cabin, sized between a lodge and cabin; it offers its own private amenities including a pool.
With SWT’s assistance, Big Cedar Wilderness Club has expanded to provide more opportunities for families to enjoy its Ozark beauty while keeping true to the Lodge’s historic origins.
